AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Team TFORCE VULCAN Z 16GB 3200 x 4 (64GB total)
CORSAIR CX Series CX750 750W 80+ Bronze ATX Power Supply
ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II
NZXT T120 CPU AIR COOLER WHITE
Next year I plan to upgrade to a 4070 / super, currently running an Intel 1650 until then.
What model are you considering purchasing?
I advise against the NZXT T120. If space allows, the Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240L Core ARGB works well. I already own one, and it operates quietly while maintaining optimal CPU temperatures.
Your system's needs matter most. Are you planning to use it for gaming, rendering, or a combination of both?
The case I plan to use is the XPG DEFENDER MID-TOWER CHASSIS.
For the cooler, I wasn’t able to locate the one you referred to. AIOs are usually about three times more expensive than air coolers in our area.
What about these air coolers I found that fit my budget?
Cooler Master Hyper 620S ARGB
Noctua NH-D9L Dual Tower Premium Air Cooler
I’ll mainly be using the system for coding, casual gaming (FH5 and mostly story mode games).
I’m not planning any rendering.
I would suggest 2x32GB. It offers better compatibility and stability compared to 4, reducing stress for the memory controller. Based on my understanding, the case you plan to purchase appears solid and well-liked by previous buyers. For cooling purposes, I have more experience with CoolerMaster and consider them a solid option. Therefore, I recommend the Hyper 620S. This setup should handle what you plan to use it for without issues.
Hey there, For cooling, focus only on these two options: Thermaltake Peerless Assassin or the Phantom Spirit. They’re top choices and offer great value. I tend to prefer AIOs. There are decent models out there. They help maintain a clean system and cool more effectively than traditional air cooling. If you’re purchasing the 5700x, consider upgrading to the 5700x3d for better gaming performance. For RAM, opt for a 2x 32gb CL16 3600mhz unit. This setup minimizes latency and ensures your CPU and memory work in perfect sync, especially with the Infinity Fabric. Using four slots isn’t ideal for Ryzen setups. A two-pack of 32gb is the optimal choice. PSU: Upgrade to a higher-quality model. It’s only average at best. Good options include Corsair RMi, RMx, RMe, or TXM if you want to stick with Corsair.
Thanks for the details.
Locally, it's hard to locate 32gb DDR4 modules in the 16x4 configuration, so using that setup would be challenging—could cause issues like blue screens.
With the 1650 until the 4070, it might experience significant stuttering if the GPU becomes a bottleneck.
My thoughts:
Ryzen requires careful attention to RAM compatibility and performance levels.
I question whether a 4 stick configuration is ideal.
Choose a kit that matches your motherboard’s RAM QVL and is backed by the vendor for your specific CPU and RAM setup.
Not every similar RAM model will function properly.
The Corsair 750CX offers a standard PSU with a solid 5-year warranty.
For the 5700X, a good cooler is essential.
Here’s what Noctua shares regarding this:

The NH-D9L lacks sufficient capacity for optimal performance.
On a tighter budget, the thermalright Peerless Assassin is a reasonable option.
For top quality and straightforward installation, I prefer Noctua products, even though they are pricier.
You won't encounter any 'real' issues with 1650 on your current system, especially for games like FH5. Bottlenecking isn't a real concern for what you have. You don't have to worry about it.
I would honestly recommend sticking to just two if you can, but if not, then you don't really have a choice.
