Hi there, my name is Dylan. I've been playing CS:GO for about a year and a few months now, totaling around 2000 hours. I reached Global Elite and am currently around the 12th rank in ranked play. I’ve come to understand that my progress comes mainly from how well I adapt to the game, not just raw skill. I’ve tried many sensitivity settings, mice, and mousepads. I’m most comfortable with a mid-range setting (around 2.5 @ 400 dpi) using a Zowie FK1 and a Steelseries QCK heavy. However, even with this setup, I struggle with fine adjustments and accuracy. I’m described as an unusual player—sometimes I can easily boost my sensitivity to 3.8 and still land 25-40 kills in matches, but I can also maintain solid performance with almost any setting if I practice for 10-30 minutes. Many will tell you to stick with your current setup and rely on muscle memory, but after three months I dropped to 2.1 @ 400 dpi from my previous 3.8. For nearly a decade I played at 2.1, feeling stiff and unsure how to improve. At 3.8 I felt more in control and comfortable, yet still found it difficult to slow down or make precise movements. What should I do? It seems like no matter what I adjust, my aim plateaus at a certain level, even though I know there’s more to learn. Anyone have faced this challenge before and can offer advice? Thanks a lot!
I settled for a balanced approach. In Team Fortress 2, I adjusted the settings to find the sweet spot between speed and control.
I spent seven months playing Farming Simulator and reached 170 hours in total. Around 30 of those sessions were inactive.
From the start, the goal was to excel, climb the ranks, and I enjoyed the process. Recently, I’ve been playing just an hour a day to maintain my level, and I enjoy casual games with friends—it’s how I like to play. It’s similar to someone who plays World of Warcraft every day for years, repeating the same actions. Only responding here since the other comment seemed uninformed; yours showed more interest.
