Are there issues with the Blu-ray drive on Windows 11 while there are none on Windows 10?
Are there issues with the Blu-ray drive on Windows 11 while there are none on Windows 10?
So, as I often say when starting a thread, I seldom begin threads because I usually manage to resolve the issue independently or with assistance from Google. Or through other ambassadors/moderators. Still, there are times when I feel stuck.
This is one such case.
I own a Pioneer BDR-XD05S external USB Blu-Ray drive that I can't burn BD discs to at all on Windows 11. It works perfectly with DVDs and CDs.
It still functions in Windows 10 if I transfer it to another system.
I've tried nearly everything—checking for firmware updates, ensuring the latest Pioneer high-speed USB driver is installed. I've used various burning tools, including the paid DVD fab version I've relied on for years, then the free Leewoo BD burning software (which is somewhat unreliable but works), and Imgburn. I've also experimented with other programs, though nothing has succeeded so far. Since I switched to Windows 11, I haven't been able to burn any movies to BD discs.
If anyone knows why this might be happening, I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts.
I discovered several relevant resources regarding Blu-ray discs and compatible services for your device.
Additionally, I came across guidance on playing Blu-rays on Windows 11.
My overall impression from these links and similar sources is that if Windows 11 does not support native playback of Blu-ray discs, creating discs would be even less feasible.
It seems highly unlikely Microsoft would ignore or permit the lack of support for BD discs in Windows 11. What could they possibly do or accept? This doesn’t make much sense at all. I understand what you’re saying, but I’m not sure the information in those links is correct or relevant. They work well on my Windows 11 system, and it’s clear that no native BD support has existed in any Windows version before. You’ve always needed a third-party player for BD playback, which I agree is also a mistake. The real issue lies in the licensing agreement related to Blu-Ray discs, and before Sony gave up their rights to the BDA, it was mostly Sony’s responsibility.
