A few months back I began discussing throttling issues with the Intel i5 8300h CPU. Recently, after upgrading the M.2 SSD on my laptop, I completed a clean install and moved forward with updates. When I tried to download and run the first Throttlestop, I noticed the FIVR was blocked. I’ve researched this problem in forums and found mixed advice for certain brands, but it doesn’t seem to apply to my setup. Both power and thermal throttling have been ongoing issues with my PC, and thanks to Throttlestop I managed to maintain good performance. I’ve already attempted downgrading the BIOS from version 311 to an older release and reinstalling TS, but that didn’t help. Do you have any guidance on resolving the current FIVR and TPL problems? Thank you for your time. -OM

Which BIOS version were you using? I believe 308 was the final one supporting CPU voltage control. I'm searching online for similar issues with your laptop model. To activate Speed Shift, you need to turn it on within the TPL window. Once enabled, SST should display green on the main screen.

I believe the problem lies with the thermals because the highest temperature reading is 96, which triggers thermal throttling. Stick to the guides for removing overclocking and config lock settings from your BIOS, as this usually resolves the issue across most brands.

Typically, configuration guides target Dell devices. Many Asus users must locate and apply a previous BIOS version that Asus keeps out of public access.

Thank you for the guidance now SSP is green and I’m hoping it will function properly. I’ve been searching for fixes to my driver issue. I couldn’t download BIOS version 308, so I’m stuck with 310. This note highlights a method that no longer works. To obtain the correct BIOS version, the page still displays a 404 error.
