Those 9090 xt and 9080 xt are excellent GPUs for those seeking native performance, though we haven't yet confirmed their release date. Will they surpass the NVIDIA 5080? If it's launching soon, I'll sell my RX 9070 XT using a credit card installment plan.

when it comes up first, I start by selling my RX 9070 XT using a credit card installment plan. AMD has confirmed they won’t be targeting the premium market that Nvidia secures with their RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. Don’t expect better options beyond the RX 9070 XT from AMD’s side.

And yet there are some posters about Tom who believe AMD might release an RTX 6090 killer at half the price of the RTX 5090. Other sites claim AMD is developing the 10900XT, which is said to be the 6090 killer. I stay skeptical and doubtful, agreeing with your view that AMD has chosen not to re-enter the high-end GPU market. Steve Burke from Gamers Nexus has mentioned this before, noting that AMD seems uncertain about their own products, changing prices just before launch and asking GN whether the price was too steep.

Same here, if the 9090 XT gives solid native speed, I could consider an upgrade. I'm interested in comparing it to the 5080.

I've read the same rumors and am hopeful.
However, for
this
generation, there doesn't appear to be anything new on the horizon.

They’ve already confirmed they’re not. It wouldn’t be surprising if they aren’t targeting the high end for next gen either. They moved from the 400 series to the 6000 series without introducing a leading competitor. The closest attempt was the Vega 64, but Nvidia has now released the 1080Ti with the 64 positioned between the 70 and 80 cards, similar to the 9070XT which was later replaced by the 1070Ti.

Between the Fury X and the 6800XT, it was roughly a five-year period where top cards included the 480, 580, Vega 64, Radeon VII (lol), and the 5700XT.

Very confident they'll drop something quicker than or a sweeter version of 9070xt by the end of the year. Everyone will. nVidia will stay ahead though—no room for AMD or Intel to catch up.

What is the cost?
If AMD unveils a GPU surpassing the current 5090, you can expect a higher price.
Significantly higher.
The price will also rise for those who can afford it without limits.

This might represent a rebuilding generation for AMD. In essence, they required time to catch up on fsr4 with dlss and improve in ray tracing as well.
However, practically speaking, even if they don’t target the premium segment, likely around 70% of users won’t go beyond the 70/70ti class cards. Therefore, they might wonder why spend money on a portion of the market where many wouldn’t buy it at all.
