You didn't mention proceeding with version 7. You may upgrade to 10 and keep using the same key.

Your original Windows 7 activation key from your main PC might not work on another machine, especially if it's an OEM product. Using it elsewhere could result in issues or loss of access. Purchasing a new key might be the safer option given the current pricing.

When the PC is pre-built, it remains linked to that specific machine. If you plan to upgrade and connect Win10 activation through your MS account, you can relocate it. However, I’m unsure whether this will function correctly when converting it from a Win7 key into a new Windows 10 installation.
