I improved my computer a few months back and noticed the temperatures are rising. Checking the core temperature logs shows the peak reaches around 80°C, likely during gaming sessions. I’m using an i7-12700K that hasn’t been overclocked yet, but the temps seem high compared to what I used before with the air-cooled i7-9700K. The cooler I have is the ICUE H100i ELITE LCD. I’ll share some core temp logs so you can see if everything is within normal ranges while playing Fortnite, GTA V, Warzone, and running background apps like Discord, Chrome, Spotify, Icue, and Precision X1.

Values below 90°C are typically acceptable and meet requirements. 80°C is normal, while 12700k is a very high temperature but still within the acceptable range.

I understand, but I'm curious if anyone else has gone through this experience. I've looked into it and some people say they get really high temperatures while gaming, while others mention cooler readings. It seems like airflow might be a factor. I'm using a Thermaltake Divider 500 TG case with four Corsair fans, the same ones included in the cooler, balanced via iCUE, and the rad fans set to extreme along with the pump.

No prior knowledge of this setup, but Jayz2cents posted a video last month about 12700k temps and how a slight under-voltage drop can cut temperatures by up to 10 degrees without hurting performance. It might be useful to watch that clip for possible advice, though 80 degrees under load isn't too high and most games listed are CPU-intensive. You could try running at a higher resolution if possible, which may ease the CPU strain a bit.

I play all my games at 2K resolution, but I'll look into that video later.

did a cinebench test at https://gyazo.com/5b749c1281ac27fa4c70b41c6ce9ab1c beginning from row 965 show maximum temps there? i ran cinebench and noticed the highest temperatures there. all fans are set to extreme asell on icue.

I chose to remove the cooler, wipe down the thermal paste, and applied fresh Kryon thermal paste. The test result dropped 800 points, which is a significant decrease. I managed to raise temperatures slightly, but none of my cores exceeded 85°C. Cleaning the case fan filters might have helped, though I’m not sure how much impact it would have. It’s unclear why I got better temps despite the lower score. How long should I wait to notice a real improvement?
