Are the PowerSpec PSUs from Micro Center reliable?
Are the PowerSpec PSUs from Micro Center reliable?
I've noticed a variety of information about their OEM and related details. The two most frequent ones I found were FSP and EVGA. I was thinking about purchasing one for this more affordable micro ATX system that I've been selling, which will run an i5 12400f, an rx 580, a 1TB NVMe SSD, and 32GB of Corsair DDR5 at 5600MHz. While the specs aren't too specific, apart from the CPU, it's mostly about the components. Back then, when I was really into PCs, POWERSPEC wasn't very popular but reviews were mixed, so I thought it would be good to ask here.
This budget low-end power supply has poor voltage regulation. It wouldn't be suitable for any system using a GPU.
The unit comes with a one-year warranty.
This isn't a strong sign of durability.
Opt for a power supply with a minimum of five years, but ideally seven or ten.
I'd prefer a model stronger than 650w to accommodate future graphics upgrades.
The price difference between 650w, 750w, and 850w models isn't usually very significant.
The power supply will only draw the amount of power it needs, no matter its maximum capacity.
I thought the units weren't very accurate. It seems like they're mainly shown in those microcenter projects people make on YouTube, sponsored by the creators to promote their brands. Likely this will be another season at a similar price, around $70.
