I just had my gaming PC break down about a month ago. It happened when I was playing some older stuff like Hell Let Loose and Cyberpunk for a while without any problems before it started failing too. Then I bought Elden Ring right away, and that crashed after only five minutes. Since I did nothing different to my computer in the past month, I feel weird about this. I even got a memory check done, and no bad things came up there either. I ran an SSD test too, everything was fine. When I checked if games were corrupted inside Steam, they all looked okay.

I have the newest graphics drivers for Windows, and my system has been running for years without any problems. With Cyberpunk and Elden Ring, it keeps going back to my home screen. But with Hell Let Loose, it says the game engine is closing because a graphics device is missing. My fan works normally, but I'm pretty sure my GPU isn't breaking down since I have a 2060 Super card. Even though I installed an old game from nineteen ninety-seven and it ran fine for a while, maybe these new games are just too hard for me right now.

This is the first time I am posting on this forum, so I hope my message lands in the right place. But can someone else help me?

I think the problem might be the heat. If d3d (Direct3D) is failing, maybe your graphics card (GPU) is to blame. I'd begin by looking at both the CPU and GPU temperatures. Also, check that all voltages are set correctly.

I downloaded a program called MSI Afterburner and ran a check on my computer. Here is what came up when the scan finished: My computer connected to the program v2.3 right away. It showed me two things about my graphics card (GPU1): its ID numbers and other details from the manufacturer. Then it started scanning, but I had to wait for about 16 minutes while it did all that work. After a few minutes of waiting, the scan finished successfully. The program told me something important: my CPU core can safely run at a speed of 58 megahertz, and my memory can go up to 200 megahertz. But there was one problem for me: I don't know what is happening with the power supply yet because it said the overclocking results were not stable. The program also saved an image of this unstable curve so that I can check it later in MSI Afterburner. My guess is that my power supply (PSU) is too weak or not good enough for these speeds, which makes things shaky.

You should check the temperatures of your CPU and GPU. The GPU was able to boost about 58MHz on average. I think it could go higher, but without seeing those temperatures, you cannot tell if it is your power supply unit. Please check the temps and voltages for your CPU, RAM, and GPU too. We need much more information from you.

I played Hell Let Loose and it ran for about twenty minutes before crashing. The average temperature on the CPU was between 32 and 34 degrees, while the GPU hit around 39 to 41 degrees. Both the CPU usage percentage and the RAM usage looked okay too. But I don't know how to check if the voltages are safe for my hardware yet.

More details on my computer: I have an RTX Super graphics card, AMD Ryzen 5 2600X processor, and 16 GB of memory. All these things came back in 2019. My power supply unit is a EVGA 500W b1 rated at 80+ Bronze, which was bought way back in 2016.

I'll begin by swapping out that power supply unit.

Your computer parts aren't working right when you play games. If your CPU and GPU get too hot while playing, just swap out the power supply immediately. It might not fix the problem, but fixing it won't make things worse for you.

Those temps on the NZXT CAM were Celsius level. When playing Hades at first, everything worked fine and smoothly. But when I switched to Hell Let Loose or Elden Ring, it started freezing and went right back to my desktop screen. I'm going to buy a new power supply unit (PSU) soon, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow because that's Christmas coming up. I am using 1080p resolution on my PC now.
