I feel like I'm grasping at straws, or shooting blanks at this point, but I literally have no other choice since Nvidia STILL has gotten their act together on this whole sitch yet... Anyway, the title says it all, since I would like you guys' input on how I can get my GPU drivers working the way they are supposed to be . But before I do so, here is my experience in what I've tried on my own so far. The last time I attempted to install a newer GPU driver through the Nvidia App, I got a black screen, & my system froze, but this was before I was aware of the whole driver problem they're facing from other people as well. A couple days ago, I called them up directly, & got through to their phone support, & the agent I was with checked his resources after I told him the exact I had. (I have the RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Slim model from MSI. I recently updated some of the info on my profile, so be sure to check that out.) And he told me after checking that my card does not require a vbios update, since I had heard from a couple sources that some people do, & some don't, but I fall into the latter for whatever reason(s) why. He told me that I can simply uninstall the generic driver that Windows includes right off the bat using the Nvidia cleanup tool --Do bear in mind that this was shortly after I had done a fresh install of Windows, but I hadn't gotten around to doing my GPU drivers just yet.--, reboot my system, & then install the latest driver, which I did through the app. And for your information, the latest driver version they had available which is 572.83, upon checking the site. Luckily enough, this time, I didn't encounter any issues with a black screen, or my system freezing, which was good, but after I left my pc idly running, & came back from a walk, I noticed that my system wasn't asleep like I prefer; it just shut off unexpectedly. So, I think it's easily safe to say that these driver issues haven't been fully resolved yet. As for what I can do, I have 2 options that I am aware: 1. I can either reinstall the driver, or roll back to an older version, whichever is the better option, but I will leave that up to you guys, as it's possible that there may have been something I have missed in my digging I've done on the matter within the last week. 2. Or, I could reinstall Windows, & maybe just clean install the driver WITHOUT using the Nvidia App, or something, but I'm not exactly sure which would be the best method, here. And for that matter, I also want some clarification- to minimize the risk of anything going wrong, should my GPU driver be installed before or after my Windows Updates? With all that being said, I'm kind of in the dark on this one, but as I mentioned earlier, I would appreciate any advice, input, or suggestions you might have. Don't forget to message me, or ask if you happen to need further details, have questions, or if I forgot something. And I'll be sure to reply back! Thanks in advance, everyone!

I’ve kept updating to the latest drivers since getting my 4070tiS last year, and there have been no problems. I began using nvcleaninstall at the start of this year with this card, and it functions perfectly. I haven’t experienced any black screen issues. My system uses UEFI boot, no CSM, and display port. I’ve dealt with black screen problems on Ayymd cards for years—each time, the only solution was reinstalling Windows.

It's understandable to feel uncertain given past experiences. Let's consider what might be happening now.

I see the perfect case of NVIDIA driver updates... at one point, an update apparently halted everyone's flight simulator X. It didn’t catch me off guard.

That's a fair observation, but not all people enjoy flight simulators.

I've never encountered any issues with the 572.xx releases. I'm currently using 572.83 and have a 4060. It seems the Nvidia app or GeForce Experience wasn't installed, which might have helped avoid problems.

I'm not entirely convinced, but it raises some questions. It makes me think whether the main issue lies with the drivers or the app itself, though it's hard to say unless you're connected to Nvidia or the tech industry.

Gamers Nexus conducted some testing using the 572.83 driver and managed to recreate several problems. It might be that during my recent gaming sessions I haven’t played any titles relying on DLSS and frame generation. I mostly have non-demanding games. The only one that comes to mind is Hogwart's Legacy, but I assume it requires version 3 of DLSS. I don’t use G-Synch either. I also don’t enable sleep mode; I always shut down the PC each night. I have just one monitor.
