Currently eyeing 940 mbps connection, I currently have 120. Is it me or the tiers are weird. Like, there's a huuuge step from 120 to 940. Why not offer something mid-way? Prices are Canadian shekels. 30 - $67,95 60 - $78,95 120 - $84,95 940 - $104,95

They aim to make you think "hey, it's just a bit more for five times the speed!" and then push you to choose the priciest option even though it's not necessary.

94 940 mbps 105 cad? I’m paying 40 euros, which feels like 60 cad. I’m in Eastern Europe... You’re being taken advantage of in Canada...

It's about $105 CAD with a 15% tax, around $120. Canada does have some of the poorest internet rates in the world.

I wonder why this happens. The internet speeds in the USA are poor and prices are high, which is unusual. The main advantage of living in Eastern Europe seems to be fast internet and affordable costs.

These markets are entirely distinct, making a direct comparison difficult. Europe and Canada share similar land areas (about 10 million square kilometres). Canada's population stands at 35 million, whereas Europe boasts 750 million people. The density in Europe is significantly higher than in Canada. For instance, Germany's density ranges from 200 to 250 people per square kilometre, while Canada averages under four. This means network development costs in densely populated regions like Europe are spread across many users, lowering individual expenses. In contrast, Canada must cover fewer people, resulting in higher per-user costs and the need for more extensive infrastructure. This will inevitably increase overall expenses.

I reside in Lithuania, a country in Eastern Europe with a population of 2 million and an average density of 46 people per square kilometer. Comparing it to Germany doesn't provide a fair perspective.

Population density far exceeds Canada's by a significant margin.

In Colorado the price is around 111.95 USD (about 98 euros) for 400Mb, and 300 USD (around 260 euros) for 2000Mb. That jump is huge, suggesting a clear shift from 1000Mb to 2000Mb at a much higher cost.
