Are my FPS Averages normal?
Are my FPS Averages normal?
I've seen my system struggle a bit with Assassins Creed Odyssey. Performance isn't great even with all settings maxed out. The game runs at around 1080p, but the overall frame rate is low—sometimes as low as 31 or 32 FPS, and up to 102 FPS depending on the benchmark. I expect better from a 144Hz display without lag. Other games like Just Cause 4 and DOOM perform much better, while Call of Duty holds steady at 100 FPS or higher. It seems my system might not be optimized enough for these titles.
Your system is working well. The box you received looks great. FPS shouldn't fall to 30fps on a 1070 unless you're using 4k resolution or something similar. A 1080p at 1060 should perform just fine and maintain around 144hz. 1440p will slow things down noticeably. There seems to be an issue because 31fps in FF is unacceptable. The best way I've found is to start in safe mode, run DDU "Display Drivers Uninstaller", then return to normal mode and install the latest nVidia drivers. Let me know how it goes.
Assassins Creed is likely the most challenging game to launch among recent titles. It definitely adds up to a high CPU demand and requires at least 8+ cores with hyperthreading. The graphics load is also quite heavy, which makes your performance seem reasonable given your hardware.
I think I'm putting aside money for an RTX 2070 and a 9900k, okay? Thanks.
Sorry man, but it's ok dude, it is obviously a game issue and not a hardware issue or a software tangling issue. At 1080p max nvpanel and max in game settings should yields 144hz..... If it is dipping to 31fps then the FF engine is a joke and so is the GTA 5 engine. Very poorly optimized, I guess they had interns do the quality control...
Well, if you really must play Assassin's Creed at maximum performance, you should know it isn't the only game that can push its limits.
Don't worry about needing a 2070, your 1070 works perfectly for 1080p gaming at maximum settings, just as I mentioned. It's an issue with the game itself, not your hardware. Right now, all your games should run smoothly at 144hz on 1080p with full graphics options. Consider lowering the resolution to see if performance improves. If it doesn't, then the problem likely lies with the game rather than your graphics card or CPU. Either remove the game from your system or spend a lot of money without any reason.
