Are monitors flashing and the computer lagging in a high-end setup?
Hi everyone,
I need some technical assistance with my PC. The problem started a few weeks ago and has become more frequent lately.
Issue:
Both monitors blink, then display a black screen, and the PC freezes. This happens when launching a game, but can also occur without gaming.
Steps taken to troubleshoot:
- Operating System: Windows 10
- Action: Reinstalled GPU driver with a clean install
- Action: Formatted PC and installed Windows 11 (still no improvement)
- Temperature: No overheating detected
System details:
- OS: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 22631)
- Manufacturer: ASUS
- BIOS version: 2413
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (8-core, ~4.2GHz)
- RAM: 32GB
- Page File: 11268MB used, 25813MB available
- DirectX version: DirectX 12
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 4090
Anyone else faced this problem? Do you have any advice on how to fix it? Your help would be really appreciated.
Thank you!

Played Arena Breakout Infinite and Soulmask, but my pc crashed on both.
Reliability History didn't provide more details—only "Windows was not properly shut down" when I force restarted.
Event viewer displayed an interesting event during the crash:
Do you think this is what caused the crash?
I couldn't find anything more significant than this. Some are kernel shutdowns after I force restarted.
Should I continue searching for other events, or might this be the one we're looking for?
The test log is a 144 KB .csv file. It isn't going to download it.
What does the details tab reveal?
More information is required about the "Ran out of memory" issue. If any leads are found...

That said: Yes.
It seems there could be a problem connected to the Nvidia OpenGL driver.
The easiest solution is to remove it and reinstall it from Nvidia's site. Adjust settings if needed.
Check if the crashes stop and share the results.
