I've noticed a lot of complaints about internal USB 2.0 splitters overheating or even catching fire, sometimes damaging the motherboard too. Many of these issues come from inexpensive, unbranded models sold online, but most problems involve the NZXT hub. I'm still evaluating the AquaComputer Hubb7, which hasn't had any reported issues yet. What's happening with these hubs, and what causes them to overheat? I was planning to use an AquaComputer Quadro and Farbwerk 360 from a single header on my ITX motherboard, but now I'm feeling uneasy.

The hub should work well if it has its own power supply distinct from the data input. If the item feels too inexpensive, it might not be reliable.
