Are automated driver tools any good?
The issue with keeping drivers updated to the Windows built-in version is that they often don’t locate anything and can cause problems. I tried Driver Booster, which discovered many drivers, but I’m unsure if it’s worth using such tools or exploring alternatives. Are others using Driver Booster or similar programs, and do they think it’s a good idea?
These programs are, in the best case, uncertain, and at worst, harmful malware. Opt for manual handling instead.
Driver Booster lacks a positive reputation. It should be labeled as malware since it pushes you to install unwanted third-party programs and often sets up faulty or outdated drivers. For better results, use driver update tools from your original equipment manufacturer or obtain drivers directly from your motherboard maker.
Based on the advice you received, I’ll uninstall that program and maintain my drivers manually. I already suspected it wouldn’t be the safest, but I was determined to address the issues with my drivers, so I considered it a last option. Thank you for your quick replies.
