Archer C6 outperforms Ubiquiti U7 Lite in multiple aspects due to its superior performance, reliability, and features.
I evaluated my old router (TP-Link Archer C6 V2) against a new AP (Ubiquiti U7 Lite) in my apartment today and reached some intriguing findings... The Archer performed better overall, especially in signal strength and 2.4GHz speeds. Using NetSpot with the same laptop, both devices were tested at the same spot—Archer about a meter from the ground on a table, U7 Lite on the ceiling—every half hour apart. Could anyone clarify why the U7 Lite lags significantly in performance and why 2.4GHz speeds are more than half as fast? It feels odd that an AP from this year should match or even surpass a router from a decade ago with similar specs, both in terms of capabilities and maximum speeds. The only thought I had is that the U7 Lite focuses mainly on the 5GHz band, where it outperforms Archer despite weaker signal. But I wonder if the difference lies more in WiFi 5 versus WiFi 6. Note: I also have a U7 Pro XG in the living room, which will use the 6GHz band for my Quest 3; hopefully, that ensures strong coverage in all areas. Still, I’m curious why the U7 Lite seems so much less effective.
