Are there any players currently involved in this game? I saw some videos and it seems amazing. I just secured a spot in the 4th BETA and am downloading it now, hoping to connect with others or receive helpful guidance.
I tried it. Here’s what I experienced before sharing my thoughts: I’ve been playing WoW for over four years, focusing on PvP arenas and raids, SWTOR for a few months, and ESO for its release period. Now that those titles are gone, I was really disappointed with Archeage. Immediately after creating my character and starting, the interface looked extremely unappealing. It clearly felt designed for players who enjoy grinding rather than for visual polish. The mini-map takes up a large portion of your screen—about a third—and it’s hard to see anything meaningful. The game seems to prioritize grind mechanics over fun, which is evident from its CryEngine 3 implementation. While the textures were decent for an MMO, I expected better. I played it for around 30 minutes and then stopped. I understand it’s a beta, but I don’t think all my criticisms will be addressed before launch, especially if the developers aren’t willing to make changes.
I’ve spent most of my MMO time on Everquest 1 and 2. Those titles demanded a tough grind, which made me eager to return. Since World of Warcraft launched, things have become so simple. I tried ESO, but it didn’t work out well—it had great potential but fell short. Just because something comes with a default setting doesn’t mean it can’t be adjusted. That’s a weak argument. From the videos I’ve seen, I enjoy the animations and favor the tab-targeting combat style, chaining abilities for optimal combos. I’m enjoying the classes and skills, and the items look solid. Raiding and PvP are impressive, and I’m watching a massive battle right now. What excites me most is diving back into the tough grind of a challenging MMO. Success requires dedication—time is essential. I also appreciate the PvE mechanics so far, especially the strategic challenges like defeating epic bosses using your skills rather than just tanking. @ samotage I’m almost ready to download and join you on the Salphira Server—I’m really looking forward to this game after doing some research.
Hey there! I'm having a bit of a situation—I'm really enjoying this game and only at level 3. It feels like an MMO experience I've been craving since Everquest days. Usually I played Warrior or Tanky characters, but I'm diving into something different today. I'm aiming for a mage with DPS skills. I'm currently on the Salphira server as Nuian and my in-game name is "Faceman."
My IG is Mysticbolt, I'm also a Nuian and a mage :3 The story isn't great with lots of long pauses, but the rest of the game works well if you're playing with friends.
It's decent compared to other MMOs I've tried, yet it falls short in some areas. I wouldn't invest much money into it—it's enjoyable, but not exciting enough to justify spending cash on it.
