This refers to software access where variables storing values are reachable by external programs. The data isn't meant for misuse, such as in the app you mentioned, which could provide live feedback on shield levels. This allows real-time adjustments based on shield status instead of relying solely on up/down or left/right controls. On the other hand, it opens opportunities to create programs that automatically adjust shields according to energy levels and additional data like position. This could enable features such as an off-screen radar in the app while still offering a way for cheaters to bypass normal controls, like an aimbot. Such functionality would require accessing memory directly, which is more challenging. The game only needs to detect unauthorized access rather than scanning every third-party app for behavior. An example of this was a hack in BF3/4 that extracted jet speed from memory to maintain optimal performance.

Sure, I understand. Just make sure the memory is read properly, like with the automated shield. I hope future upgrades handle this automatically so you don’t have to micromanage.

I truly hope this comes to pass. I’d love it if my shield tablet were placed next to my keyboard, directly connected to the seat panels in my Consellation. The best part would be that everything could be labeled, so I wouldn’t have to memorize every hot key.

Absolutely, as long as it's just key presses we can handle it for a third party. I think it might be restricted due to our access level, until the first-party app is available.

If they did that it would be nice. It looks beneficial for tweaking shields and power handling, among other things.
