They were inquired about managing vessels via tablet or phone app, treating it as a dedicated control panel for your ship. They mentioned it’s something they’re interested in adding, though they aren’t developing it right now but strongly want it included.
Someone on Reddit was also working on it. I'll send you the link.
I believe adding variable outputs like damage states, shield levels, and radar positions would make the experience more engaging. However, the challenge lies in balancing this with automation risks, which can lead to cheating. Without proper feedback, the sectors on his shield adjustments feel more like button presses rather than responsive positioning.
Being able to read variables directly would be really nice but I just don't see them doing it (with mods/private servers you should be able to but not on the PU). As much as I don't think they should allow access it would be nice if they did because at this point I intend to make my own controllers for SC (unless something much more fitting for space flight comes out before then) and that sort of feedback would allow me to do so much more but sadly its just the sort of thing that's far too easy to abuse. Normal hacks access that information through the memory but doing so allows the game to detect it much more easily and flag it as a hack.
I don't believe extra info means cheating; we really don't have any details on damage conditions at the moment. We're mostly using general descriptions. For instance, we know engines can be damaged, but it's unclear whether it's the port thrusters or the main engine. We're also unsure if weapons overheat due to overuse or cooling issues. Damage states should be announced clearly—critical, destroyed, and leaks like coolant would be helpful. Since we're in alpha, things should improve soon.
