Appropriate overclock settings for your GTX 1060
Appropriate overclock settings for your GTX 1060
I've been thinking about upgrading my PC components and, as a beginner, I'm unsure about the best speeds I can push them to.
The parts I plan to overclock are:
CPU: Intel i5 6600K
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming
Memory?
I've checked some tutorials on CPU overclocking and believe I'll aim for around 4.2 Ghz at 1.25V.
For the GPU, I don't have much clarity because most YouTube videos focus on general tips and some users report issues.
My main questions are: should I try overclocking my GPU at all? If yes, what speed should I target? Should I increase voltages? Do I need a better power supply? And what about memory overclocking?
I understand these are many concerns, but these forums have helped me before, so I thought I'd give it another try.
Details:
PSU: Sharkoon WPM600 Bronze
SSD: Adata Premier Pro SP900 256GB
SATA: Seag 1TB ST1000DM003 7200 SA3
Memory: 16GB 2133-33 Vengeance LPX
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15
GPU: Gigabyte 6Gb 1060 G1-Gaming
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-Gaming K3
Case: Sharkoon T28 (red)
Also, I plan to switch my PSU to a Corsair RM650x for safety.
Apologies if there are any grammar mistakes.
I own an ASUS 1060 with 6gb turbo. I tweak the GPU using ASUS GPU tweak 2 OC. The core clock is at +232 and memory clock at +887. I increased power target and voltage to their maximum settings. Running heaven and valley, I passed them several times without any artifacts, keeping temperatures below 70 degrees. Bf1 used 99% GPU usage, never crashed. Crashes occurred with Dark Souls 3, GTA V, and recently Warframe (once only). Downclocking memory helped resolve some crashes.
