Applying freeze on any Linux distribution
Hello, I noticed your laptop originally ran Windows 8.1 and later upgraded to Windows 10. It would randomly freeze at times, shutting down completely until you pressed the power button. After a clean install using the recovery image, the issue returned. I installed Windows 7, which worked well for about four months without any issues. Recently, I tried Linux Mint and it froze again after some time. I found a forum discussion suggesting the problem might be related to kernel issues on certain processors, like my Pentium N3540. I attempted an update to the kernel but it caused another freeze. My OS is now at risk, and I’m considering switching to Ubuntu 16.10. It comes with a 4.8 kernel, and I’ve run various tests on my HDD, CPU, GPU, I/O devices, and more. It seems the problem could indeed be linked to the kernel. Since I had no issues with Windows 7, I’m wondering if I’ll encounter similar problems on Ubuntu. Thanks for your advice!
