After thorough testing, the 3060 ti appears to be functioning correctly. The black rectangles in Chrome seem to be a separate issue affecting some users. The appearance of black and colorful rectangles on Remote and main desktops when hovering over UI elements hasn’t been reproduced yet. Running VRAM-intensive games might help, but it’s unclear if this resolves the problem.
VRAM artifacting appears consistently in certain scenarios. I've observed it mainly during VRAM overclocking tests over time. Typically, you notice it before a system crashes due to unstable overclocking. One method to check is using software such as MSI Afterburner—significantly lower the VRAM speed and reduce the GPU's maximum power limits. If the issue disappears, it suggests a cooling problem with the VRAM module. Should that not fix the problem, it's likely a software-related cause.
I've been checking performance with the GPU set to default in Superposition, and also experimenting with different undervolting or underclocking levels while gaming. So far, nothing has caused any visual problems. I'm more concerned about the two artifacts I saw on my main desktop, especially since I've had other PC/OS issues before but never something like this.
Standard Windows RDP shouldn't be using the standard GPU driver and be using a special one that's added for RDP sessions. The local GPU might affect that, but I've never experienced this issue in an RDP session before. It's one of the limitations with standard Windows RDP compared to other types of RDP software which may let you use the local display outputs mirrored or control them. Windows RDP doesn't allow for that with the way it handles display outputs.
I recently came across this topic, though I wasn't sure about it at first. It seems unlikely the RDP problem is linked to the GPU, especially since the two desktop artifacts disappeared and haven't returned. They also didn’t appear when interacting with the Start menu UI, which might suggest an issue with the Start tray icons or a corrupt OS. The blurry Start Tray icons could be caused by the app used to make transparent the Start bar or a general OS problem. I might consider reinstalling Windows to resolve these issues.
