Apply GPU artifacts during rendering.
You recently purchased a 3060 Ti from eBay and completed all tests. The artifacts you're seeing are occurring only when interacting with certain UI elements, which suggests a possible software or driver issue rather than a hardware defect. After reinstalling the 1070 Ti, the problems disappeared. It’s not a definitive guarantee for every buyer, but it seems the issue might be tied to your current system configuration. Consider checking if other users report similar problems or contacting the seller for clarification before deciding to return.
Checking DisplayPort and testing alternative DP ports on the card to confirm consistency.
I was connecting the 3060 ti to my main monitor via one HDMI port and a VGA to the motherboard for the second display. Since I don’t have a DisplayPort cable right now, I was trying different setups. On the 1070 ti I used HDMI and DVI to HDMI for the secondary monitor. I wondered if splitting the output between the motherboard and GPU might have caused the problem, so I kept the second monitor using VGA during the reinstallation of the 1070 ti to confirm it was the correct card, not an output split.
I've encountered similar problems with poor display connections, so I'm asking for your insight. It's possible one port is faulty or not compatible with your adapter, given the HDMI 2.1 support on the 3060ti compared to HDMI 2.0 on the 1070ti. This could be a chance if you're open to trying a different adapter or cable. Adapting display signals can sometimes cause odd behavior, and this seems to be the case in my experience. If you own a TV, you might want to check its HDMI functionality using that device.
I've now reinstalled the 3060 Ti on my PC to show the seller it's his GPU causing the problem. The issue with artifacting has stopped, even though it didn’t occur during gaming. It’s unusual for a GPU to stop working without noticeable symptoms, especially when running basic apps. It might be worth checking if the GPU is still under heavy load or if there are any background processes affecting performance.
After reinstalling the 3060 Ti, the artifacting didn’t return. Previously, it only occurred during basic tasks and heavy gaming, especially Alan Wake 2, which always used up the VRAM. Even then, it happened on the desktop and Remote Desktop, not in a demanding game. At that time, I was also running an undervolt/downclock, both while playing and during the artifacting. Recently, I’ve slightly boosted GPU memory with Afterburner and tried Superposition, but nothing changed. I’m concerned because my return window is short and I don’t want to risk a mistake. Have you considered the possibility of a faulty cable or monitor port?
