Monitor displays blank (no input detected), graphics cards spin at full speed and stop completely, system freezes after a second, audio continues playing. After restart, drivers may remove themselves automatically. PC defaults to built-in drivers, blocking access to the GPU unless reinstalled. Memory modules changed but problem persisted with both old and new sticks. Occurrences noted in other titles: -Nioh 2 shrine activation (slowdown at 11 seconds, often first or second attempt) -30:07 in video, precisely at the line "At this moment..." -random instances elsewhere but reproducible under similar conditions

System restarts automatically upon encountering this issue or you may need to manually reboot. This behavior appears occasionally outside gaming contexts. Certain applications or games seem more likely to trigger it. Immediate actions include verifying all drivers and firmware are current. Use the Event Viewer around the time it occurs to identify any errors, such as driver or system warnings, which can help pinpoint the cause. (BlackBaud knowledge base on Windows Event Viewer usage)

I believe I identified the issue. If anyone has similar problems: I reduced the power draw and clock speed of my GPU by 10%. The crash used to happen every time, but now it’s inconsistent—last hour I couldn’t reproduce it after about 10 seconds.
