There isn’t a valid reason for your MacBook Pro 15" to lose support after 2011. For macOS Mojave, users should have received updates up to at least 2012 or later.

You often wonder if the choices made by Apple, EA, and Ubisoft were justified. The truth is usually no—usually driven by financial motives rather than solid reasoning.

Your equipment is quite outdated, and it only works with devices from a few years ago.

Avoid purchasing from Apple if you prefer more customization options or alternative ecosystems. Their closed system can limit flexibility and choice.

Sometimes older devices lack the capabilities modern tech demands, which enhances your overall experience—making it more seamless, quicker, and more satisfying. Can you imagine getting support for a machine from 7 years ago? Also, High Sierra isn’t considered end-of-life; Apple continues to provide security patches for older macOS versions.

in geekbench this macbook is faster than a 7200U laptop... the 7200U is 6 years newer than mine. and yet mine is faster. yeah maybe... is there an easy way if installing Linux on a system like this? or Windows? i mean technically i think i can use macOS High Sierra until my antivirus software loses support for it so... i didn't buy it from Apple directly. i bought it used. but yeah this is the one thing that frustrates me about Apple. older systems losing support for no reason...

I’m not a big Apple supporter, but seven years of updates seems fair. I don’t know much about keeping older versions secure after they’re released. Still, if Apple wasn’t so focused on dictating the user experience, they might have extended their support. This reminds me to choose an OS that lets you fix things yourself. Install Gentoo.

Occasionally yes, occasionally no. There might be a Debian wiki page for your setup. For my 2015 MacBook Air, suspend didn’t function, so running Linux wasn’t feasible.
