I'm assisting a friend with his MacBook A1708 experiencing a display issue where the backlight activates during boot but the keyboard and logo remain off. All connections have been verified, the SSD removed, and battery checked—still no results. I observed something unusual about the connections to the chip.

They seem fine at first glance. For verification, use a multimeter to measure resistance between the two pads. This component functions as an inductor, typically made from simple wire, so proper operation should show minimal resistance.
