Has anyone identified the reasons behind the well-known crash in Windows 10? It has been bothering me since 2021, beginning in June that year and continuing to affect older games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed IV, etc. I've tried two CPUs—an Athlon 3000G and a Ryzen 3 4100. Testing confirmed it’s the issue. Updated the BIOS to version 6042 on an ASUS Prime A320M-K AM4. Still no luck. Ran memtest86+ with zero errors, and Windows 10 tests also passed without mistakes. One memory was new, added in February 2022. Then I tried three different power supplies: a Redragon RPGS 500W, an EVGA 500W2, and a Corsair CX550 purchased in May 2022. All tests came back clean. For the graphics, I used two Nvidia cards—GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5) and GTX 1650 SC Ultra Gaming (EVGA), both new, bought within the last few months. Still no errors. The issue seems tied to an older hard drive. My Windows 10 version is 21H2, and even with a different version like 21H1, there were severe problems such as runtime errors and crashes. I noticed coil whine in idle starting in November 2020, but the main symptoms began in June 2021. The 1TB WD Caviar Blue 7200 RPM from 2016 is still functional for basic tasks, so it might be the culprit. I haven’t replaced it yet. I’m frustrated with Windows 10 and even worse with Windows 11. I miss Windows 7, but I don’t have any of those issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
