I got code 16 on two distinct x399 boards from various motherboard makers using ECC RDIMMS from different vendors. The X399 can handle ECC, but it doesn’t register the signal processing, which caused some ECC UDIMMs to appear. Both boards started up correctly. I’m hoping this helps someone save time.

Same problem occurs, either error 16 or 10. After reinstalling the RAM multiple times with force and replacing the CPU, I noticed it needs two clicks. The second click is almost inaudible and sometimes both click at once. Also, the BIOS on my system shows 3200 RAM but lists 2400—easy to fix there.
