Hey, I'm curious about your setup. Your board supports USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, but it seems hard to find compatible devices or hubs that utilize that speed. Are there any capable gadgets you're considering that could take advantage of this bandwidth?

Portable SSDs and premium USB thumb drives function alike electronically. USB 2 typically meets needs for most devices.

Checking the product details, these adapters typically convert USB 3.0 to USB 3.0 or 3.1, not USB 3.2. They usually have fewer pins than USB 3.0 devices.

You need three adapters to maintain performance. USB 3.2 has many naming conventions—3.2 Gen 1 equals USB 3.0 and 3.1 Gen 1 runs at 5Gbps. 3.2 Gen 2 is USB 3.1 Gen 2 at 10Gbps, while 3.2 Gen 2x2 offers 20Gbps with a connector shape change only. Everything else stays consistent with Type A.

but i’m having trouble locating usb hubs for usb-a 3.2 with speeds of 10-20gbps since they’re usb c devices; i think you’ll need a compatible adapter or cable, as i read, because usb-a cables aren’t designed to handle such high speeds—usb-c cables are thinner and work better

I got a feeling that you're doing things in the wrong order. You first have some drive you want to use, then decide where to connect it. You shouldnt buy anything just to fill up all the ports, there's nothing wrong with leaving ports unused for now.

it's not about using unraid with passthrough. I can route one of the USB controllers that's a 2-port USB 3.2 Gen 2, and I need to divide it so I can add external SSDs on Windows through those ports/controller. Right now I have to turn off my VM to connect or disconnect an HDD/SSD, which disrupts the custom XML setup.
