Hello, I'm planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600X in a few days. The top advice I've received is to opt for RAM with low latency (CL16). I'm considering an Aorus RAM at 3600MHz, but it has a latency of 18, which isn't what I was hoping for. The only option with CL16 is the Aorus 3200MHz model. My question is whether RAM latency really impacts performance—by how much percentage and if it's noticeable? Thanks!

Ballistix handles it effortlessly, so I recommend skipping the 3600 cl16 or any higher bins beyond the 3200 cl14/4400 cl19 range. Using higher rams will cause delays because of latency. For quick responses, you’ll need to adjust your own settings. The Ballistix 3000/3200 can manage 4000 cl16, but raw frequency support is limited around 4600-5000 cl18 if you push that limit. If you prefer not to customize or pay extra, stick with a standard 3200 cl16/3600 cl18 unit. Performance remains stable until you hit extreme speeds (over 4400) or ultra-short timings (<cl15), though I’m not sure about exact percentages.

Sure, but if you prefer not to go with ballistix, the main differences are just about cost. How much are you spending on them? Where do you usually shop, and are there more affordable alternatives from other countries?

I'm from Indonesia. The VGen Tsunami/TsunamiX is a high-performance RAM option, priced around 140-150$ in my country. I also have questions about the motherboard—I’m using the Aorus B450 Elite V2, which supports Ryzen 5000 series. What’s the difference between Elite and V2? The earlier model seems more expensive; I’m curious if there are hidden features in the newer version that add value. Also, I’m considering buying the Aorus B450 Pro, but I’m unsure if it’s worth it compared to the Elite. Thanks!

I suspected that since ive only seen aorus ram here, pcpp doesnt seem to have aorus ram In indo ballistix is too overpriced, theyre like 1.5jt for a 16gb kit, you might aswell spend abit more fors some viper steel 4400 cl19 b die rams and do heavy oc at 1.65-1.75v, Heres some viper steel 4400 cl19 at 1.67jt Tbh its best to just buy some generic samsung 8gb or 16gb 2400-2666 sticks and ask for samsung d or e die cause they overclock decently well (4000mhz+), e die is old (been around since x99) so prob bigger node than b die and b die runs high volt fine so ill just deem 1.7v and under safe, d die is pretty new for all i know so stay under 1.65v, do not hesitate with voltage as that ruins your overclocks, and above 1.5v needs a fan cause rams too hot = error

Just because the low bin isn't great doesn't mean it won't work. Check out the burner's specs—it might be a cheap model but still hits 3200MHz CL16.

It's not worth the price compared to Samsung E/DP models that offer 4000+ with ease and only around 400MB for an 8GB stick and 800MB for a 16GB stick. You're getting double the cost without much extra performance over a cheaper RAM option. If you really want Viper, at least 1.6GHz or more would be better, otherwise it's a waste of performance, staying under 1.75GHz is fine.
