Hi everyone, I am trying to upgrade my standard ISP modem to a TPLInk Archer Router (ISP modem doesn't allow me to turn off DHCP on it or set a DNS server (from a local ip). However, I have an AOP(?) coming out of my wall. One of the coax cables plugs into my ISP's modem, my TPLink router doesn't have coax support but has a WAN port. Would a simple coax to UTP splitter be fine? I can then hook it up to the WAN port on my tplink. I'm not quite sure if the ISP's modem is actually required to establish a connection with the ISP(maybe some type of authentication thing?) I'm not too versed in the hardware department yet.
Converting a DOCSIS signal isn't straightforward; you need a DOCSIS modem. Are you in Germany? Your mention of "kabels" suggests you're there, and your provider is Vodafone.
I'm near The Netherlands, and this picture came from the web. I'm with Ziggo.
It seems like you're looking at options for a replacement router or modem in Germany. The main supplier there is AVM, offering models like the FRITZ!Box 6660, 6591, and 6690, all compatible with EuroDOCSIS 3.1. You might want to check if they provide Dutch language support and are available in the Netherlands. If not, consider other brands that support EuroDOCSIS 3.0 or higher. It could be helpful to contact your ISP to register the new device before use.
