Are there any experts here familiar with blue iris? I've been using it for years but am now trying to improve its performance. My main concern is which hardware decoding solution works best—do you think a GPU is the top choice? I'm open to suggestions like Intel, Intel Plus VPP, Nvidia NVDEC, DirectX VA2, Direct3D11 VA, or even Intel beta options.

Just realizing besides hardware decode in the camera and in the main system there is also hardware accelerated recode if not direct to disc recording but I am still curious

That doesn't seem to be the main issue anymore. I included substreams and switched it to direct to disc recording, but now I'm using 20% CPU instead of 99%.
