OptiFine is the top choice. I really appreciate its Zoom feature, particularly for Hive Bedwars where it’s essential to see what others are doing. It definitely improved my Core i3-2365M a lot.

What specifications? Avoid the newest version—it tends to be full of issues and slow. Stick with the last significant patch, like the 1.16.2 piglin brute update.

I tried Hypixel but didn't like it much. I also grew up playing Hive Bedwars, especially when Hive added support for 1.9, so I have a bit of a preference.
