I grew up with Twisted Metal titles, and recently the only games that feel similar are CrossOut. It's not bad, but it feels quite old now—even at full settings it struggles to hit the 300 FPS limit on my 3440x1440 display. It's also a free-to-play title with a very slow progression if you don't buy new vehicles. I've played CrossOut for years without much advancement in my build, and I've stopped playing for a couple of years before coming back. The lack of progress is noticeable; it's similar to how World of Warships feels when reaching higher tiers—progress stops around tier 3-4 instead of the expected 8-9. It's been enjoyable to return, but it seems almost no one plays anymore, with most lobbies filled mostly with bots. Are there any modern alternatives people know about?

To truly grasp how outdated this title feels, watch a short clip I just filmed. The highest quality is set to 'High,' but performance remains capped at 300 FPS due to engine constraints.
