I use an RTX 3050, an i7-7700K, a Z270 SLI Plus board, and 32GB of dual-channel RAM. It should handle most games well—like Outer Worlds, Outer Wilds, Fallout 4, Skyrim, etc.—but it still lags. I reinstalled the graphics drivers using DDU and confirmed they’re up to date, and checked for overheating issues. It’s confusing why performance is so low despite everything being in place. I’ve reached out to Reddit multiple times for help, but I’m still struggling to figure out what’s causing the problem. I also have Windows installed on my SSD, and if that helps, I might consider reinstalling it as a potential fix.

where are you getting this information that they "should run fine"?
and what do you consider "fine"?
what resolution are you using, what in game settings, and what FPS are you actually getting?
this is an outdated CPU that will have problems providing as many frames to the GPU as you may be expecting.

Often when seeking assistance, I get a response saying it should work fine. I thought the CPU might be too weak, so thank you for validating my concern.

You may want to activate hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in the "Default graphics settings" section of Windows graphics preferences if your CPU isn't performing well. Make sure to test it right away, as older games could behave differently.

Without detailed information about specifications or real performance data, it's difficult to offer solid guidance. It would be useful to test with 3DMark and compare against others using the same CPU and GPU to identify any differences. The games you mentioned should work on your system despite the relatively old CPU and its specs.

My mistake, I've run 3DMark. Please let me know if you need additional data such as HWInfo.

I believe I recall shutting it off because of problems, but I'm going to attempt turning it back on now.

It made a big difference, Fallout 4 performance improved significantly—from 30 fps regardless of settings in Diamond City to smooth 120 fps on medium.

For a brief evaluation of your processor, execute the CPU-Z benchmark and check the single-thread performance rating.
It should be around 543.
If your processor hasn’t been overclocked, you might gain about 30% improvement.

I'm not hitting 543 yet, but I'm unsure about making changes without risking my CPU.
