Any download fails no matter what browser I use, even with fast internet and a new Windows installation.
Hello everyone! Recently, I wiped everything clean because one of my hard drives died and came with the Windows copy too. Since I had to take out all drives except my SSD to reinstall properly, when I turned it back on into Windows 10, things stopped working for me quickly. Every time I download something from any website or browser, it just starts then stops abruptly after about half a second or so and never gets going again. Eventually, the screen says "download failed: network error." Streaming services like YouTube also act up by setting themselves to the lowest quality automatically, making big videos take forever to load with lots of buffering every few seconds. Even logging into my Nvidia GeForce Experience is hard; for example, when I try to log in using Discord, it fails and sends no confirmation email at all, showing an error message. This never happened before I did this reinstall.
Here are my computer details: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite Intel Core i7-9700k 32gb TridentZ 3600MHz CL18 Zotac RTX 3070 Twin Edge OC LHR EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G+ Crucial MX500 500gb WD Blue 1TB Running Windows 10 Pro 22H2
I have already tried many fixes that other people on forums suggested, like flushing my DNS, changing my DNS setting entirely, turning on WWAN and WLAN services, using lots of ipconfig and netsh commands, reinstalling windows all over again, resetting my CMOS button, installing countless drivers, deleting my network adapter in device manager and restarting computers, etc. I tried installing the Intel ethernet adapter complete driver pack 27.8, but it didn't work after searching exclusively for i219-v. At this point, I am pretty sure it's not a driver issue because I built a small test bench using spare parts to see if my network was broken and everything worked perfectly without changing anything. I run gigabit over ethernet cable and used the same cable for both systems. Running a speedtest appears 100% normal and shows expected speeds. Is there any fix out there or am I out of luck and have to drop $200 on another board? Everything else works fine, but I'm worried something broke when it comes to networking since my old h110 has zero issues. Any help is very much appreciated.
Find model details for modem, router, or both together. Check router logs if they are turned on and available to get a hint. Ask who has full control over the router since you'll need their help. Try turning off IPv6 on your computer first. If that doesn't work, open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all", then send me what it shows up as.
It makes sense to turn it off because your internet situation is the same way. It's almost too good to be true when fixing weird problems. You can think of IPv6 as a totally different type of internet connection. Instead of one path, you get many paths between your ISP and the servers at the end. Usually, people say that old-style IPv4 networks work better than new ones. But I don't know why it works worse sometimes. For more than 20 years they've said this is where everything will go. Maybe some internet companies just don't handle it well enough. It might also be connected to all those cloud hosting places like Cloudflare, Google, Amazon, and others. These sites make websites look like they are in many different data centers at once. Anyway, the main reason for IPv6 was not running out of IP addresses. Now they use tricks such as NAT so fewer companies keep their own servers. So this problem is almost gone. Most people think IPv6 just causes trouble, so it's best to turn it off. There are very few websites mostly in Asia that only work with IPv6, but there are some tricks like using special proxy servers to get through them using only IPv4.
