Also handled my old Dell, which seemed to have a detachable battery that didn’t need opening the back.
Using an airtight plastic bag with a vacuum seal can trap oxygen and cause suffocation for ants. The freezer might damage a laptop, but it endured cold temps without freezing—though it eventually slowed down when it hit near freezing.
This was exactly what I expected. Removing air will kill the ants. Not sure how to get rid of them once they're gone or if the eggs remain. I’d leave the laptop inside for a few days if you don’t need it anymore and use compressed air afterward when they’re dead.
I’d like to understand their origin and where you usually store your laptop. I don’t want another infestation happening.
I typically place it on my study table...I avoid eating or drinking there (except occasionally)...But now the ants have disappeared completely. Even though I keep my laptop nearby, they seem to vanish. Also, it’s summer here...so I’m not sure where they’re coming from. I can see them in the cooler spots around my home.
If it's an invasive species, I don't see much difference. I'd hire a professional to handle the situation and ensure your home is safe.
