What antivirus should I choose for my new PC? I’ve had mixed experiences with Norton, especially Norton 360. It handles SSDs and HDDs without warning, uses many system resources, and sometimes gives false alarms. My needs are mainly gaming, basic office tasks, web browsing, media consumption, and occasional document work. I’m seeking a solution that runs smoothly during games, doesn’t drain performance, and avoids unnecessary interruptions. I’m evaluating SpyBot, McAfee AVG, Avast, and Norton options, but feel uncertain about their fit. I also want a solid firewall feature. While Norton 360 and Norton Security are premium, they’re costly, whereas Norton Internet Security (NIS) is more affordable and newer.

I use Avast along with Malwarebytes. Avast is fast and packed with features, while Malwarebytes excels as a strong browser protector.

Wouldn't it be wise to have security measures such as firewalls and protection for your network or router? - I recall only one program that handled this kind of thing, but do you know if Avast or Malwarebytes provide similar options? What about SpyBot?

Avast has suggested several playful changes: switch the search engine from DuckDuckGo to Yahoo! or Bing, delete the add-ons I recently installed, and do so immediately.

Wouldn't it make sense for Avast to step in and replace Yahoo Bing and Google?
