Hey there! It's a bit overwhelming with all the choices out there. What matters most depends on your needs—some people prefer free options, while others value advanced protection. Let me know if you'd like some recommendations based on specific requirements!

In 2014 common sense was about finding free options, like AVG plus Malewarebytes and Common Sense 2014.

Free: Avast plus Malwarebytes for malware protection — Don’t dismiss advice from folks who say “just use your brain”... it’s not that simple.

Windows Defender, firewall and basic wisdom should cover it all.

Make sure to avoid any suspicious links or clicks. You should be safe as long as you stay cautious.

Another choice for AVG plus Malwarebytes. Keep having both live performance (AVG) and manual checks (MB). Tested both in a repair shop for many years, helped eliminate viruses that standard solutions missed.

Assuming this holds true would require a functional firewall, but the standard Windows firewall falls short. I’m currently learning about computer networking and related technologies. We completed a three-month course focused on basic hacking techniques and gaining access to open systems (Windows firewall disabled, no antivirus) without being noticed. It became possible to establish a remote shell and perform actions undetected by the user. Upgrading to a more robust firewall would be ideal, and the simplest method is using a free antivirus like Avast.

Windows firewall isn't great, the top choice is AVG or Avast plus Malwarebytes with Common Sense.
