It’s consuming a lot of system resources even after removal. The issue likely stems from background processes or scheduled tasks. Check Task Manager or Windows Defender for lingering entries. Disable unnecessary services and close unused applications to free memory.

It typically uses less than half of your RAM, but you can prevent it from consuming too much.

You might turn off Windows Firewall and Windows Defender, but that’s unlikely to fix the issue since Microsoft thinks we’re not capable of managing such a strong system and will continue operating normally.

What amount of RAM do you currently have? I understand that during any on-demand antivirus check, the CPU and disk activity rise, and I’m not familiar with antivirus software significantly boosting memory use while idle.

Everything I see indicates high CPU and disk usage. With 32GB storage, it’s using about half, but it still feels slow for your games.

It has been a long time since things have been this way. Just yesterday Microsoft dropped a flawed security update that severely impacted Windows Defender Antivirus. I’m not sure if it’s tied to that issue. In the meantime, you can experiment with other antivirus options here: https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/re...factsheet/

It was about a week ago. I'm going to try different antivirus options next time.

If you choose to use Windows Defender, consider reducing its CPU load by accessing the Group Policy Editor and adjusting settings in the relevant administrative templates. For Windows 10 Pro, you can fine-tune these configurations. If you're on W10 Home, high CPU usage may persist—seeking assistance from resources like @GoodBytes could be beneficial.

The CPU itself isn't the issue; the memory is experiencing problems.
