Starting Java at university means exploring the latest semi-new distribution. For a student, IntelIJ is a solid choice since it supports Vim and other essential tools. Antergos could work too, but IntelIJ offers better stability and community support.

Antergos is essentially ready-made arch with solid quality support. I’d prefer Manjaro instead (and naturally a straight Arch if the user wants). Fedora receives decent support roughly 5-6 months post-release, but on launch day people often seem confused and can’t help answering questions.

It’s not complicated. You can run both operating systems at once without any issues. After rebooting, you’ll see ElementRay alongside Ubuntu.

Fedora derives its name from the same hat that Red Hat employs in its branding. It makes logical sense.

I mean by support are the packages. There are numerous programs with RPMs and DEBs, like Chrome. You might usually get them running, though it can be tricky. For paid commercial assistance, Red Hat or Ubuntu are the top choices.

However, the AUR or perhaps even Alien might step in to help you. I think sometimes ready-made programs are simpler under pressure, but I’ve always managed to locate the software I needed in Arch without any issues, just like with Fedora using Fedy.
