You need a tool that supports full PC searches across all drives, including partitions. The current file explorer and taskbar searches are limited. You can modify settings to enable broader searching or consider specialized applications designed for comprehensive disk discovery.

You probably need to adjust your Windows search preferences to account for additional storage devices. The twist is there.

You should launch File Explorer, navigate to "This PC," and enter your search term. This method scans all connected drives simultaneously. While less convenient than using the taskbar shortcuts, it remains a viable option.

The total commander features an advanced search tool built on Windows Explorer, offering two side-by-side panels reminiscent of classic programs like Norton Commander or Dos Navigator. You can filter by file extensions, name patterns, depth limits (typically up to three to four levels deep), and apply conditions such as creation time, size restrictions, or text matching within files or names. For documents needing quick text searches, dtSearch is recommended, though it requires a subscription. It creates a searchable database for fast retrieval of phrases and keywords.

Plus the OP, once you create a new spot in the indexed list, there might be a short delay before Windows recognizes it. The index must be created first, which can take some time if your added folder contains many files.
