i'm talking about the E3, E5, and E7 Xeons. The "E" stands for extra features or enhanced performance. These processors are designed to handle high speeds, reaching up to 4.1 GHz. The cheapest budget server CPU I've found so far is listed here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4...eon+E-2134

The basic models use "E" keys, while the upgraded versions support multiple sockets.

Well then, the E and the older Xeons make solid starting points for a home setup, though the Threadripper 1900X has fallen to $200—at least I managed to locate one for that.

Why choose a quad-core Xeon over other options? Simpler and more affordable, especially with models from the 2010s.

xeons work fine when they cost under fifty dollars. They offer good value, though it varies based on your needs. I wouldn’t look at a 1900X or an older quad-core model for similar tasks.

It seems like you're comparing servers and desktops. The Xeon is typically better suited for servers, while Ryzen is more appropriate for desktops and gaming.

A 2-year-old Skylake Xeon might outperform a CPU from Q1 2020 due to its improved Zen 2 architecture, offering better performance and efficiency.
