The RAM in your Dell Optiplex 3080 is DDR4-2666 with 288 pins, 1.2V, no ECC support, and BIOS doesn’t allow XMP. You can install the same spec RAM sticks you found, but they won’t work if you disable XMP. The chips themselves aren’t different—just the BIOS settings need adjustment.

Ok thanks, I think I finally got it. Is there actually a better DDR4-3200? I've spent hours searching online and it is basically looking like pick a brand. Except for this company that I never heard of https://www.newegg.com/p/2R8-0017-00046 The price is online with other DDR4-3200 but the timings are much lower. Thinking this is false advertisement or I am missing a detail somewhere?

The SPD is customized by the final manufacturer, which controls the XMP profile, while the heat spreader is also designed by them. Most buyers end up assembling components from various suppliers, resulting in products that look similar but differ slightly in SPD settings or heat spreader choices. To confirm, are you referring to the system described in the first post? A 3200 CL16 kit will only be XMP-compliant since there’s no official 3200 CL16 JEDEC standard. For full performance, consider a 3200 CL22 kit or another JEDEC-compliant option. Note that Intel’s 10th generation supported DDR4 up to 2933, so Dell may enforce this limit. Depending on your processor type (i7/i9 vs i3/i5), you might be restricted to 2933 or 2666, meaning opting for a more affordable model could save costs. Same machine with an i5-10500 Gen 10 processor and Intel B460 chipset. CPUID shows the RAM is DDR4-3200 at 1600 MHz. It seems DDR4-3200W was produced around that time. The prices I found match the typical cost range. I’m okay paying a bit more for possible speed gains. My goal is to convert this into a server and host multiple virtual servers, running it until it fails.

The B460 chipset doesn't allow overclocking, which means the motherboard caps performance at 2666MT/s. However, CPU-Z likely shows a higher speed of 3200MT/s (or 1333MHz), since both the CPU and motherboard support that range.

Considering that, I should focus on DDR4-2666 with timing specs of 17-17-17 versus DDR4-3200 at 22-22-22. I'm trying to figure out the Samsung timing details since they're unclear.
