The fast-paced action and jumping mechanics are more influenced by the level design than by true 3D movement. As discussed, MGS has gradually made progress toward objectives since the game's release. While the skill sets differ between MGS and Brink in handling items at various heights, gameplay remains a key factor in MGS, with level design still playing a role. From what I observed in gameplay, MGS5 will see a greater emphasis on level design compared to previous entries, though it has always been present—just needing a stronger focus on other aspects.
They've been working on this project for at least three years, and I believe they wouldn't complain about the challenges since they didn't have the budget to consider during its planning.
No one mentioned the challenge of completing it. The jump isn't really important for the gameplay MGS is aiming for.
I've always appreciated MG's level design (though I admit Nintendo's controllers used to really mess with your thumbs). My concern wasn't about poor design, just the added complexity involved. I agree that after MGS things got more vertical, making it harder to hide by simply changing levels. Plus, those higher-level players could now spot you from above obstacles.
In the end, it's impossible to have all things... Otherwise you achieve harmony.
Again, for what reason? Because the horse can leap past barriers that are lower than the height of its hooves. The only situations where this happens are with barricades and similar obstacles that are heavily guarded, rendering the horse ineffective there. A horse isn't the most stealthy creature; its main goal is to guide you from the wild to a fortified camp. It's not about sneaking up to your target.
Aldo focuses on realistic elements such as timing, shooting accuracy, NPC intelligence, ambient sounds during infiltration, and the overall infiltration mechanics. It’s unusual not to be able to leap easily.
MGS doesn't need a jump, there is no why to it, you do not benefit from being able to jump, so why add it.
