Announcement Regarding Project CARS Optimization for AMD Graphics Cards
Recent developments raise questions about SMS's reliability if Project CARS isn't officially a GameWorks title. The game was recently announced by nVidia as a GameWorks release, but details remain unclear.
It's already too late to escape this situation. There are too many falsehoods surrounding it, and they keep repeating themselves.
How many more times does SMS have to repeat this before folks end the witch hunt? Those Reddit clowns and the site users who spread lies about the game are unlikely to back down. The real issue is that physics calculations cost a lot of money. On a sim racer with rain effects and all that, it gets even more demanding. It’s not about SMS or Nvidias fault—those need to improve their performance. AMD’s DX11 drivers adding extra CPU load isn’t the problem; it’s up to them to fix it. Nvidia should address the sudden performance drop in Kepler. Both sides should stop blaming each other instead of complaining. You’re all just as unreasonable, honestly. The constant accusations from either side are really annoying.
maybe it's the physics they claimed would be simulated, or perhaps they promised fixes for an AI that's been problematic since the game's start. They said they'd keep supporting the game long-term, even though they're rushing to announce a second title. This might be understandable if they added mod support, which most current simulations have except Racing. However, the foundation already includes skin support, and now lobby systems replace dedicated servers—something not ideal for sim racers. Those familiar with the scene aren’t happy about this change, and I share that sentiment. Of course, this critique doesn't cover all the game's great features, but it’s clear they’re targeting a new audience. While it won’t have a full multiplayer experience for a while, especially after DLCs, it still offers some fun. It’s just not positioned as a serious sim anymore, which is why I wouldn’t recommend it unless you're willing to accept those limitations. The price is £27 on GMG, too.
Then there is the voodoo magic that is Assetto corsa being under 30% cpu usage majority of the time which putting it all in perspective shouldnt actually work. I dont hate SMS for performance, issues happen, coding is a bitch. Im annoyed that they are didnt add mod support which has killed off their game in a year or so and i can understand why as they announce that a second one is coming. Its sort of a stupid reason but I dont get that sense of genuine love for the game as if its a child or something. When i see the shit that kunos and ISI even simbin now sector3 have gone though its like they made a gamble gunning for the forza and granturismo guys. Its too early to say how it will end but i know a lot of the sim community is sticking in the long run with rfactor2 or Assetto corsa and the rich chaps that can afford iRacing. Anyways this is just my opinion, i welcome anyone to have their own opinions, im not a fan though.
Removing confusion is important. Thank you for the press release. Sadly, it seems they didn’t collaborate effectively with all parties and didn’t guarantee a seamless product rollout on PC. Perhaps AMD missed the chance to release the driver on time. As someone who builds games, their team didn’t deliver a smooth experience at launch.
