AVG 2015 performs just like a free version. Or try a modified copy (Caution: illegal software isn't advised).

Even a pirate wouldn't install a broken antivirus version. There are plenty of risks involved. I've never used that trick before.

I've relied on Avira Free Antivirus for more than two years and it has performed reliably. Other solid choices include AVG 2015, Avast, Bitdefender Free, and similar products.

I recommend relying solely on Windows Firewall and conducting routine system scans. Antivirus tools often feel intrusive and unnecessary. As long as you avoid executing executable files during downloads, everything should be safe.

I prefer AVG, but I also trust Avast since it’s reliable. Don’t forget to add Malwarebytes to your setup, regardless of the antivirus you choose.
