The USB 2 ports could have thinner power wires leading to greater voltage drop compared to the USB 3 connections.

Phone connection doesn't require Bluetooth. I actually use the phone link. The PC gets internet through a power line, and the phone connects to Wi-Fi. As long as you're on the same network, it should function.

I owned an Android device a while back, so I wasn't certain if it worked. iPhones require BT pairing... But getting Bluetooth available on the PC is still a good thing.
