It seems like a rather messy approach. I still rely on wire because I often send files larger than 2gb to the tablet.

USB 2.0 connections don't deliver the same energy as USB 3.0, and the device might be attempting to charge too quickly through the 2.0 port.

The device is designed to handle both charging and file transfers simultaneously.

It seems unclear how the PC would handle the fastcharging protocol. The system shouldn't be able to process it properly.

It's correct that the chip isn't physically on a PC to start fast charging. I haven't encountered any reports of phones attempting this with devices lacking the chip. Do you have specific examples you're thinking of?

We don't have a clear idea of the phone model, it could be a generic $100 AliExpress device. Another chance is the USB3 ports have thicker wiring, possibly due to front panel design affecting signal quality before connecting to the external cable. No details available on that either.

It's not a cheap AliExpress product. It's a $300 XIAOMI device with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports on the front panel.
