Hello, this could be an unusual place to ask, but I understand your concern. My old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has been working fine for checking the bank and reading news, though it feels outdated. I’m wondering if there’s a way to upgrade the system or run a lighter version of a newer OS so I can access websites more easily. Please let me know if you’d like me to suggest possible solutions. Thank you!

This item is essentially outdated e-waste. A single gigabyte of RAM won’t meet the needs of modern Android systems, and even if you locate an updated third-party version, it’s probably a frustrating experience. Using such an old Android version also poses security concerns—I wouldn’t link it to your local network or allow it to handle banking or personal data.

Tab 2 seems unlikely; Tab S2 is active with ongoing updates from the community. Check XDA Search and look for relevant information.

Absolutely, take a look—it's definitely the second-oldest artifact we've found.

CyanogenMod ceased support in 2016... It's now replaced by LineageOS. LineageOS hasn't updated for the Tab 2, likely because of hardware limitations discussed earlier. The ROMs on XDA are community-run and use older Android versions, with version 8 (Oreo) being quite outdated. These ROMs come with several known issues and the same security risks apply. You're free to use what you like, but I'd strongly advise caution before giving it to someone who might handle sensitive information like bank details. If it were the Tab S2 as mentioned before, the situation would be entirely different.

It's a fun question, but have you verified the clock on your device? Sometimes older equipment can drift from accurate time, which might affect internet connectivity.

They’re an incredibly unlikely bet. You’d probably tackle a tough challenge on a very old console, especially since they often drop for around $70 and can be cleaned up with tools like FireToolbox. They turn into perfect, focused gadgets.
